Holiday season is around the corner and all of us have to attend some social events that involve eating and drinking. In each case these are filled with unhealthy choices. We have to admit that all this is mostly just pleasurable for the stomach and the soul until after solid landing back into reality. It's important to stick to your aims of successful weight loss, even over the holiday season.
The day when you come to realize how much weight you gained only by going to the office party and Christmas dinner with your family and couple of nights out with your friends.
All the excuses that it is a holiday and you can have a second serving of that piece of thousand-calorie-a-piece cake are sabotaging your way to a healthy life far away from the fat suit you are wearing now.
There are a few things you can do to stay in control.
Learn to say no to people who always come around to offer you food. Since they don’t understand that you are health and weight conscious, you have to make your point clear enough once and for all.
Coworkers and family members are the worst for this. They may mean well, but they refuse to take no for an answer when you politely turn them down. Be firm and don’t let everything and anything that comes into a plate go down your mouth. Being unable to say no is one of the main reasons people gain a lot of weight and not only during holiday time.
Before you go to a family gathering and dinner, snack at home on something healthy. Celery sticks and baby carrots will cut your appetite and they will make you feel full for a long time. During dinner you can choose to eat leaner parts of meat and skip dessert.
Have a protein shake before you go out. Protein shakes maintain your muscle and reduce your appetite. This way you are less likely to throw yourself into chips and appetizers because you feel really hungry.
Only eat when you are actually hungry. Don’t fall into the trap of eating because everyone else is. If you are not hungry, or had something to eat before you went to the restaurant then don’t eat.
Keep exercising. Early morning exercise is great and will help you to start the day on a high.
Have a good time, enjoy the holidays and try to stay fit without falling for the temptations.
